Overwatch Junkertown map revealed

Blizzard has officially unveiled the next Overwatch map, called Junkertown.

As you may have guessed from the name, the new map shares a history with the hero Junkrat. Junkertown is set in the Australian Outback, and supports Escort game mode.

"Constructed from the remains of a destroyed omnium, it's now the home to a band of lawless scavengers known as the Junkers, led by their cutthroat Queen," the official description reads.

"When they aren’t pillaging the omnium's skeleton for anything of value, the Junkers blow off steam in the Scrapyard—a massive gladiatorial arena whose combatants fight for glory, riches ... and to survive."

As you can see, there are a lot of dead omni in this map, and the reveal video even touches on some of the lore behind it.

Blizzard also confirmed the map will be playable at the show floor. Unfortunately, the developer did not provide a release date, outside of "coming soon."

Alongside the new map, Blizzard released a short, in-engine video of Junkrat, and Roadhog - the game's Australian heroes - giving players a bit of a back story of the map and describe exactly what players will be escorting.

Called Junkertown: The Plan, the short is very different from previously released shorts, and should not be confused with the animated short Blizzard will reveal on Wednesday.

You'll be the first to know when that one drops.
