Overwatch: the Year of the Rooster event has kicked off, ends on February 13
Blizzard has announced its Year of the Rooster event for Overwatch has kicked off and it will run for the next three weeks.
Players will be able to collect over 100 themed cosmetic items, battle it out under fireworks on Lijiang Tower, and try to capture the flag in a new brawl mode, Capture the Rooster.
In Capture the Rooster, teams will take the fight to Lijiang Tower to secure the opposing team's flag.
Starting today, all in-game Loot Boxes have been replaced with Lunar Loot Boxes and they include new Journey to the West-inspired skins for D.Va, Winston, Zenyatta, and Roadhog. There will also be event skins for Mei, Tracer, Mercy and Junkrat as you can see in the trailer.
As with previous events, Lunar Loot Boxes can be earned or purchased with each housing one random item from the Year of the Rooster collection. This will include profile icons, victory poses, emotes, highlight intros, sprays, skins, and other goodies. Items unlocked are available forever.
Overwatch's Year of the Rooster event is now live on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One until February 13.
A patch has also been released alongside the holiday event. We'll get those up for you soon.
