Overwatch Halloween Terror returns this year, Torbjorn rework now live on the PTR
Blizzard has confirmed that Overwatch's Halloween Terror event will return in time for this year's spooky holiday.
In a new developer update, Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan revealed a host of changes coming soon to the game. Among the announcements, Kaplan confirmed that Halloween Terror will be available this year just like last.
The Junkenstein's Revenge game mode will also return, but don't expect any major changes from last year's format. Kaplan said that Blizzard is happy with the mode the way it is, and outside of a few small changes, it's going to be a familiar Junkenstein's Revenge.
Halloween Terror is also bringing new skins to the game, as most events do. Kaplan teased one skin in particular for Roadhog. In the same developer diary, Kaplan outlined the reworked Torbjorn, which has been in the works for months.
For starters, Torbjorn will no longer be able to distribute armour packs to teammates, and as such the Scrap system is being removed. This is replaced with a new ability called Overload, which grants a rate of fire increase, damage resistance, and boosts movement speed.
Torbjorn's Molten Core ultimate is changing, too. Now, using it allows him to shoot out pools of molten lava that deal area of effect damage, particularly against armoured enemies. The turret can now be tossed before deployment, allowing it to reach previously unreachable areas.
Turrets also start at level two and stay there. Kaplan said the goal with the rework is to make Torbjorn more viable across all maps in both attack and defence. All of these changes are currently live on the Overwatch PTR, but the Halloween Terror event does not yet have a starting date.
