Overwatch director is happy for any of the game's characters to end up in Smash

Overwatch's main man has no issue with any of the game's characters guest-appearing in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

The upcoming Switch version of Overwatch has been a long time coming. The day many assumed would never come is actually a little under two weeks away.

With how popular Overwatch characters are, and Nintendo's seeming openness to featuring non-Nintendo characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - more recently with Banjo-Kazooie, it suddenly makes a lot of sense if any Overwatch hero were to end up in Smash.

For game director Jeff Kaplan, the idea is a no-brainer. "To the Smash Brothers team, whatever character you want, we love them all," said Kaplan in an interview with IGN.

"They’re all our babies, you can have any single one of them. We have 31 to choose from."

Kaplan, however, is rooting for Tracer - the face of the game. "Tracer's our girl, Tracer's our mascot. She'd be my first choice," he revealed.

"There's a lot of great runners up. I think a lot of people can immediately see Doomfist gameplay applying to Smash, but if it were up to me, I'd like to see Tracer."

As the site points out, more characters are on the way to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, so there's definitely a chance one of them could come from Overwatch.

Overwatch launches October 15 on Switch.
