Over 18,000 attend GDC

gdc

GDC's organisers have claimed this year's show saw a record attendance, with 18,250 visitors passing through its doors.

The number is the highest ever, according to UBM TechWeb Game Network; last year's GDC was attended by over 17,000 people.

The figures are at odds with almost every word-of-mouth report coming out of the event this year, with everyone saying the show was far less crowded than in 2009.

GDC boss Meggan Scavio said before GDC this year that the focus was squarely on development and not "announcing things," with the main news event of the week being an off-site Move reveal from Sony.

Next year's GDC will take place from February 28-March 4.
