Ouya reviews begin: first impressions highlight key issues

Ouya console reviews have begun creeping on to the internet, but the news so far hasn't been too positive. Still, it's early days yet and Ouya's CEO Julie Uhrman has described the first wave of Kickstarter consoles as a preview period while the team refines the format.

Gi.Biz has corralled early Ouya reviews into a single report which you can read here.

Both Engadget and The Verge have offered up their own appraisals, in which both sites point to controller lag as a pertinent issue, while the console's Android interface is said to bear several poor design choices and missing features.

The console's marketplace of 104 games is also said to be quite uninspiring, and that you can't see how much a game costs until you download and start playing it for free. The Verge rated the console 3.5/10 and suggests that while Ouya needs top IP to call its own, the reviewer did praise how easily it could be hacked, making for a relatively open platform.
