Ouya - Android console Kickstarter exceeds $2m

[Update]
The Ouya project Kickstarter fund has exceeded $2 million, with 28 days still to go. At the time of writing, the total sits at $2.2 million from almost 17,500 backers with the vast majority pledging $99 or more. A number of the limited-reward pledge tiers have already sold out but the lowest tier, for pledges of $10 or more, is limitless and there are still thousands of pledge spots available in the higher tiers. 16 spots remain on "The Angel List" for those wishing to contribute $10,000 or more. The original target was $950,000.

Remember the Ouya, the console being described as a cheap, “hackable” Android-based system in the works from Yves Behar, Muffi Ghadiali and Ed Fries? Good, because the developers behind it took  to Kickstarter to help fund the project, and in less than 12 hours, the project has exceeded its $950,000 goal with 7,774 backers donating $969,509 with 29 days still left for funding.
