Outlast 2: Return to St. Sybil and Escaping the Scalled
Outlast 2 drops protagonist Blake Langermann on the outskirts of the Sonoran Desert, and tasks him with rescuing his wife, Lynn, from a town of murderous lunatics. We've got all you need to get through the game in this Outlast 2 Walkthrough.
There certainly is no rest for the weary in Outlast 2, for once he's been nailed to a cross and crawled through an encampment full of people that want to tear him to shreds, Blake Langermann must now navigate his way once again round the school. In this Outlast 2 Walkthrough we'll guide you through the return to St. Sybil.
Eluding the Monster in St. Sybil School
Once Blake finds himself back in the school for the umteenth time, head straight forward to examine another hangman drawing on the desk, afterwards turning right and proceeding into the lit hallway, where there's a battery on the TV unit there. Turn left at the junction and into the first room on the right, collecting another hangman drawing on a desk in that room.
Head back into the corridor and all the way to the last room on the left, in which Blake will experience a particularly bizarre vision. Afterwards return to the corridor and turn left down the dark hallway, heading all the way to the end, where Blake will mutter that he can hear a phone ringing.
Turn right into the dark passageway, and continue walking forwards, but be prepared to make a hasty retreat. As soon as the corridor begins to spin, and organic material begins to grow on the wall, turn around immediately and run all the way back to where we first started, in the canteen area of the school. Your pursuer will vanish as soon as you reach this destination, so proceed back to the dark passageway we were previously in, where a light will now be on in one of the rooms on the right.
In this room, Blake can finally answer the phone that he heard ringing earlier, where he has a particularly unpleasant conversation. After this bit is over, head back to where we first entered the passageway, but be prepared to run, for as soon as you exit this corridor, the monster will spawn in the toilets on your right.
Run back towards the starting area of the level, except where you before turned right into the canteen area, continue ahead and hide in the locker next to one that Jessica hid in (the second to last one on the left). This thankfully brings a close to this section of the menacing school, returning Blake to the real world.
A Tough Encounter with the Scalled
As soon as Blake has exited the wardrobe, turn to the right and collect the 'Paradise Soon' document on the desk. Once you go through the only door in the room, the smaller Scalled from earlier in the game will loose an arrow at Blake, signalling that he's once again being hunted. Go forward, shut and lock the door in front of you, and collect the battery on the floor to your right, then turning around the collecting the other battery at the other end of the room on the shelves. Now turn to the left and collect the bandages in the box, hopping out of the window to the left straight after.
What follows next is a taut game of cat and mouse, between Blake and the combination of the larger and smaller Scalled, the latter of which will constantly firing arrows at Blake whenever the pair spot him. There's no one way to escape these two, but there are a few tactics that Blake can employ against them.
Firstly, you'll want to make as little sound as possible. Avoid stepping on any of the piles of branches on the ground, as this will attract the Scalled due to your location, as will running into any of the wires running between a few of the trees. Use your microphone to keep track of the pair, but use this sparingly to conserve battery power. There are two houses in the area, one of which is on the right side of the starting house and is unavailable to Blake, but the other is on the left side, and contains a bandage.
Your goal in this area is to make it to a pathway leading out onto a ledge, which can be seen from a fair distance due to the torch marking it. Once you arrive here, turn left and squeeze onto the ledge, following it all the way round until you're back on stable ground, where a battery waits for you by a corpse just past the tree.
Once you've collected this, head to the cliff edge of the area and carefully make your way out onto the log leading over the ravine, where the Scalled pair will start firing flaming arrows at Blake. As soon as you're off the log quickly hide behind the large rock, and crawl along the ground, taking the lower path leading past the corpse on the ground when you come to a junction. Continue crawling down the path until you come to an area with some Scalled around a campfire.
While these Scalled aren't hostile, they will attack Blake if he gets too close, so navigate your way to the far corner of the camp to collect some bandages, and then back towards a ledge that you can climb up. Once you move forward from this ledge and see an arrow fly into a tree nearby, run forward and take shelter behind the large rock just ahead, sprinting from there down the path and mounting two ledges just round the corner, collecting a bandage once you've climbed the second one.
From here, drop down off the ledge and fend off the Scalled that tries to stab you, running from here all the way down the path and sliding down the hill, getting caught up in the barbed wire right afterwards. This brings a close to this section of Outlast 2, as Blake Langermann now finds himself buried alive, after having been crucified only hours prior.
