Outlast 2 Puzzles

While the areas in Outlast 2 may vary fairly dramatically depending on what stage you're at in the game, the way the puzzles work throughout the game tend to be fairly similar, generally revolving around an item that must be found in order to progress to the next part of the game.

This method of sending the player to search for a single item occurs a number of times in just the opening chapter of the game, named Genesis. The first instance of this happening is when the player is tasked with finding a crank in order to turn a gear, which in turn stops the revolving wheel in a factory, allowing protagonist Blake Langermann to crawl underneath it.

However, while finding and claiming the object in order to proceed is usually a task that occurs without much danger, there's a good chance of an enemy standing in the way of Blake once he has retrieved the object in question. This occurs in the puzzle involving the hook, in which Marta reappears, having seemingly finished terrorizing Blake just minutes earlier, and proceeds to hound him until he successfully installs the puzzle object in the gate and is able to escape from her.

As such, be on your guard when retrieving the puzzle items in any given situation, as since Blake Langermann can't fight back, any enemy that gets the jump on you can be fatal!
