Oh s**t, this week's Assassin's Creed Origins: Trials of the Gods is against Sobek, a giant freaking crocodile

Assassin's Creed Origins players can test their mettle against Sobek in the next trials of the Gods.

Trials of the Gods are intermittent, limited time events in Assassin's Creed Origins in which players investigate a glitch in the Animus that manifests as an Egyptian god.

The first Trials of the Gods event in Assassin's Creed Origins had us face off against Anubis, but the second one looks even more daunting as we'l be taking on Sobek. Yes, Sobek - the crocodile god. Yes - he is a giant crocodile. H-hooray!

Unlike the previous event, there's a story requirement this time; you must have finished the questline called Aya. We're guessing this is the one in Alexandria fairly early in the campaign, although there is a quest called Aya: Blade of the Goddess right at the end of the story.

Trials of the Gods is live in Assassin's Creed Origins right now, so get in there and bash Sobek. You have until November 28 to beat Sobek and claim a unique weapon - as well as a piece of the exclusive gear set available to players who take down every single Trials of the Gods opponent.

Not ready to battle a giant beast? The good news is that Ubisoft has said all the Trials of the Gods events will be available again sometime in the future. Wish I knew that before I got all complain-y about Trials of the Gods being a limited time event in Assassin's Creed Origins, but I do notice the publisher hasn't said anything about the gear set being offered again in the future.

Crocodiles are among the nastiest enemies a low level player can encounter so we're expecting a challenge from Sobek's Trials of the Gods event. Consult our Assassin's Creed Origins guide and get your house in order before the big day.
