Oculus Rift and Samsung bring virtual reality to mobile with Gear VR
Samsung has dipped its feet into the virtual reality pool by partnering with Oculus VR.
Announced at IFA 2014 in Berlin, Gear VR is a headset which Engadget says features a removable front cover.
This allows Samsung's Note 4 - which was also revealed at the event - to be attached where it will act as the screen.
It's Oculus VR's software behind the headset and it is set for a release this year.
Engadget went hands-on with the headset and said video "looked sharp" and "there was no perceptible lag" with head turning and what was displayed on the Note 4's screen.
The UI was easy, there are no wires, has a 96-degree field of view, it comes with a 16GB microSD pre-loaded "with a variety of 360-degree videos and 3D movie trailers" for your Note 4.
No price. No release date just yet. Just sometime this year.
