Those tired of waiting on their Oculus Rift pre-order to arrive in the post can try grabbing one at Best Buy this weekend.

That is, if they live next to one of the 48 Best Buy stores which will stock a small number of the virtual reality headset on May 7.
Rift will also be available online from Microsoft and Amazon, starting May 6 at 9am PT/12pm ET. Quantities will be extremely limited while Oculus "catches up in pre-orders."
Since customers aren't charged for their order until it ships, those who have yet to receive their package can purchase a unit in stores, and still earn the pre-order bonuses offered in January.
"We know that many pre-order customers are still waiting for their Rifts, so we’re offering those customers a chance to purchase Rift from retail instead – while keeping their pre-order benefits, like the EVE: Valkyrie Founder’s Pack and priority status for Touch pre-orders," said the company on its blog.
"Starting May 6th, if you’re interested, simply go to your order status and let us know you’ve purchased a Rift at retail, and we’ll cancel your pre-order. Your EVE: Valkyrie entitlement will appear in your order history."
While this is a pain for those who continue to wait on the headset, the company has to fulfill the retail contracts it set up. Still, this olive branch of sorts isn't much unless folks like fighting others to grab a Rift off the shelf in time.
The Rift consumer model started shipping on March 28, but many customers are still waiting. Oculus said the delay was due to a component shortage after the influx of day-one orders.
Due to the inconvenience, Oculus has waived the shipping fee which will save folks between $50-100. A new estimated ship date was set for April 12, but it has came and went for many.
