Don't try and resell your Oculus DK2 on ebay, you'll get busted

If you try to sell your Oculus Rift dev kit on eBay, Oculus VR will cancel your pre-order and you'll be out of luck.

With 10,000 DK2 units expected to start shipping this week, and 35,000 others still in the wings, those who put their pre-orders in early will get first dibs at the tech.

One eBay user decided to list his $350 pre-order for $5,000 before it shipped, and thanks to the Oculus community rightly up in arms about it, the pre-order for this particular unit was cancelled by the firm.

In fact, according to the firm's community manager, all resell orders are being cancelled along with multiple unit orders.

"Just so everyone is clear, the information provided [on the eBay user] alone was not enough to take action," reads the community manager's statement. "We perform our own investigations with tools at our disposal to make sure that there isn’t a false positive.

"Our community is awesome. Thank you for helping us make sure that we are getting kits into the hands of devs and shutting down profiteers. [Also] "orders,” as in plural. All gone."

The ToS agreement with all pre-orders states Oculus VR can cancel orders at any time, plus, DK2 is "meant for developers, not consumer products.”
