Octopath Traveler retail shortages due to demand elicits apology from Square Enix
Square Enix is having issues meeting demand for physical copies of Octopath Traveler.
Octopath Traveler seems to be out of stock at retail locations, and Square Enix has apologized for the inconvenience and disappointment.
The stock issue is affecting Japan and the US. In some cases, there's a 1-2 month wait for a boxed copy, according to Nintendo Life.
Square has suggested those itching to play the game opt for a digital copy instead until stock is replenished.
Octopath Traveler released for Switch last week to rather nice reviews, and is a huge hit in the UK. Debut sales for the game in that region have doubled those of Bravely Default and Bravely Second.
