Nvidia is making 65-inch gaming monitors with 4K, HDR, 120Hz and G-Sync
Nvidia has introduced a new product at CES 2018 this weekend that will bring many PC monitor-exclusive features to the big screen.
Called Big Format Gaming Displays (BFGDs), these new 65-inch displays flaunt 4K, HDR, and run at 120Hz. G-Sync support is also included, which is expected given Nvidia's involvement.
All displays will also have a fully-integrated Nvidia’s Shield, meaning they'll be capable of TV-style video streaming as well as game streaming and Google Assistant support out of the box.
Details about the HDR capabilities of the displays are slim at the moment, but Nvidia confirmed the big monitors will be using direct-array backlighting, with 1,000 nits of peak luminance and DCI-p3 colour gamut. Nvidia is showing them at CES, so expect more detailed first-looks to pop up over the next few days.
Asus, Acer, and HP are all lined up with their own products. Asus, and Acer have previously partnered with Nvidia at the launch of G-Sync, and continue to make G-Sync PC monitors, so it makes sense.
Nvidia has not revealed prices or release dates for any of these models. Crucially, the company did not say if screens smaller than 65-inch are planned.
