November NPD: US industry nears $3 billion, up 10%

The American games industry showed a 10 percent increase overall in November over the previous year, rising to $2.91 billion.

For the year to date, US retail stands at $16.04 billion compared to $13.14 billion in 2007, 22 percent ahead year-on-year.

Hardware sales rose 10 percent to $1.21 billion last month, with software sales up 11 percent to $1.45 billion.

Even peripheral sales were up, rising 7 percent to $255.4 million.
