Nosgoth: Square Enix explains store monetisation, currency bundles as high as $79.99
Nosgoth publisher Square Enix has penned a new blog that explains how the free-to-play game's Gold and Runestone currency system works.
In a post on the Nosgoth blog, Square's George Kelion wrote, "Nosgoth is a free-to-play game - but it's not pay-to-win. We made the decision to go to free-to-play to break down barriers and let as many players into the game as possible. One of the key goals has been to create a fair experience that doesn't penalise players who don’t spend money in the game – as such Nosgoth doesn’t include items, weapons or abilities that are inherently better (aka 'supremacy goods')."
Kelion referred to items in the in-game store as 'sidegrades' and stressed that each item has been balanced so to avoid pay-to-win. He added that as you play Nosgoth you will receive Gold depending on your team's performance, which can then be used in the store.
Runestone currency can be bought using real money, giving you fast-track access to items without having to unlock them using Gold or XP first. You'll be able to buy Runestones in these bundles:
