Despite announcing a launch window for the NX, Nintendo will not be showing the new consoles at E3 this year.
No Nintendo NX at E3 2016, console won't replace Wii U & 3DS
Nintendo just dropped the big news during its financial briefing. The company's next console, codenamed NX, will launch worldwide in March 2017.
Nintendo also revealed that The Legend of Zelda has been delayed again. The game is now scheduled for release in 2017 on both the Wii U and the NX. It will also apparently be the company's biggest focus at E3 in June, and not the NX.
According to Wall Street Journal reporter Takashi Mochizuki, the NX will not be shown at E3. Mochizuki tweeted this earlier from the briefing session.
According to another tweet from the technology reporter, attributed to Nintendo's CEO, the new system will not replace the Wii U and 3DS.
The NX will be still be shown "later this year," however, according to the briefing.
Although Nintendo may not be ready to show off the console to the public at E3, behind-closed-doors demos and meetings for the press and the like are not unlikely. We'll have to wait and see.
