Thamium9 is one of the elements you'll be needing the most early on in No Man's Sky.

As you've probably already figured out, there's a big crafting and element collection part of No Man's Sky.

Your suit life support systems, mining equipment and some weapons, require the Thamium9 isotope element to function. More importantly, Thamium9 is the energy source needed for your Pulse Engine, which allows you travel at very high speeds through space.

Though Thamium9 can be easily found on the surface of some planets, because everyone's game is different, it'd be impossible to try and point out specific locations for where it can be found.

The trick here is to focus on mining the rocks and debris you find in outer space as you're moving between planets. These can be shot using your main weapon, and will break into Thamium9.

As you can see in Alex's video above, the amount you get from destroying these rocks is pretty plentiful and should only take you a couple of minutes to get a good stash. You can also try your luck with other ships you may find at the various space stations, as they could be offering Thamium9 for trade.
