No DLC for Bastion because it feels "complete"

Bastion developer Supergiant isn't planning on releasing DLC for the action RPG, because it put in everything it planned for right from the start.

"It's the game we intended to make," creative director Greg Kasavin told The Morton Report.

"Looking back on what we wanted to accomplish and the feedback we've gotten, it's lined up very nicely. There are no features we wish we could have added."

Kasavin said the aspect of Bastion he's most happy with is "how well it ties together".

"We wanted to make a game that felt complete where it's all internally consistent. Sometimes you play a game and you can tell they tacked on multiplayer, or the music is terrible but the graphics are amazing. We put in the effort and I'm happy how that turned out," he said.

Developers rarely manage to pack in everything they planned for by release day, but Kasavin said Supergiant's realistic, pragmatic approach was enabling in this regard.

"We're a team of seven people and we didn't set out to make a MMO that you'll play for 200 hours. We wanted to make a game that wasn't going to overstay its welcome, it gave you a sense of grand adventure that provided a good amount of replayability if you did want to go back, and gave you a darn good value for $15."

To this end, there will be no extra downloadable content for the game.

"We have no plans to extend the game in that way. As I was saying before, we held nothing back. It's meant to be a complete story, so there are no obvious extensions.

"We of course intend to continue supporting the game and I guess you could call something like the Portal turrets DLC. We'll continue looking at things like that which we could do, but that's it."

The full, two-part interview is well worth checking out; Kasavin also discusses the decision not to include multiplayer, pricing for indie games, and more.

Bastion is available now for PC and Xbox Live Arcade.
