Nioh 2's open beta debuted last month on PS4, before the game launches at some point later in 2020. Developer Team Ninja has provided some insight into the changes they're making to the final product, based on feedback from the beta.

One of the particularly noteworthy changes to the game that Team Ninja mentions is improving the tutorials. "Expand the interim tutorial to include basic actions and Yokai Shift controls" is one of the key aspects to address for the Nioh 2 team before launch. This will be welcome news to our guides writer Joel Franey, who found turning into a demon so complicated that he wrote a guide on how to do it.

"Stabilizing the frame rate" is another area of focus for the dev team. Some of the other focuses for the team include adding active skills to all weapons, in particular the Hand Axe and Switchglaive, two of the new weapon types being introduced for the sequel.

In Nioh and its sequel, the special "Ki Recovery" technique allows you to earn back lost stamina with a simple button press, if you can time the ability just right after attacking or dodging. Team Ninja is going to increase the number of core stats that can improve the Ki Recovery rate, as well as making adjustments to increase the number of core stats that can improve the Ki Pulse bonus. In other words, the feature should be more rewarding if you can pull if off.

Nioh 2 releases later in 2020, exclusively for the PS4. If you want to know what we made of the beta for Team Ninja's upcoming sequel, head over to our Nioh 2 beta impressions.
