Nioh 2 goes gold ahead of March release

Fans of tough-as-nails action games rejoice, Nioh 2 has gone gold ahead of its worldwide release on March 13, 2020.

Between The Surge 2, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and of course, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, 2019 was a vintage year for third-person action games where you get your teeth kicked in over and over again by ridiculously tough enemies.

Now Nioh 2 is just around the corner, ready to reacquaint you with the true meaning of suffering.

As highlighted by Gemastsu, Nioh 2 developer Team Ninja took to the game’s official Twitter account to announce the milestone.

Yesterday, we saw that the original Nioh has shipped over 3 million copies since its release back in February 2017. While it began as a PlayStation exclusive, Nioh was also later released on PC via Steam.

The original game was also recently featured as part of the PlayStation Plus Monthly Games service.

Nioh 2 looks set to reinstate Team Ninja’s place as one of the premier purveyors of Japanese action games, and you can find out why in our interview with Team Ninja studio head Yosuke Hayashi, here.

For even more impressions, check out our hands-on preview of Nioh 2, here - where we likened the game’s intense action to the push-forward combat of Doom (2016).
