Nintendo Switch Online ends its monthly NES and SNES releases
Nintendo Switch Online will no longer receive new monthly instalments of NES and SNES games as part of its subscription service.
Its retro content won't be totally disappearing, however. Additional NES and SNES games will continue to be added, albeit irregularly, IGN reports.
"More Super NES games will be added after launch, but those releases will not adhere to a regular schedule. Please look forward to future announcements," said a Nintendo representative. They add, "[m]ore NES games will be added in the future, but those releases will not adhere to a regular schedule. Please look forward to future announcements."
Nintendo Switch Online launched last September, bundling its subscription with an initial 20 NES games. Nintendo would add three retro titles to the service each month following launch.
It was only this week that Nintendo announced its plans to expand Switch Online's subscription offering with a slew of classic SNES games. The first 20 SNES titles hit the service yesterday, including The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Star Fox.
