Nintendo Switch is the fastest-selling home console ever in the US, surpassing even the Wii - Nintendo
Nintendo has announced today that the Switch has become the fastest-selling home console in the history of the US.
In just ten months, the Nintendo Switch has sold over 4.8 million units in the US, by Nintendo's own estimates. That's the highest for any home console released in the country.
The Switch claims the title from the Wii, the previous record holder with a bit over 4 million units sold in the US during the same time frame. 60% of Switch owners in the US have Super Mario Odyssey, and over 55% own The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Splatoon 2 are less popular, at 50% and 20%, respectively.
"Fans across the country have experienced the joy of playing their favourite games at home or on the go," said Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime.
"Now that many more people have received Nintendo Switch systems for the holidays, we look forward to bringing them fun new surprises in 2018 and beyond."
2017 was a packed year for the Switch, considering it was its launch year. Hopefully 2018 will be just as strong.
