Nintendo receives bad marks for not ensuring "conflict minerals" aren't in any of it products

The Enough Project, a watchdog group which keeps track of crimes against humanity, has called Nintendo out for not doing enough to ensure its products don't "conflict materials" from regions such as the Congo.

Speaking with CNN, the non-profit group's Sasha Lezhnev said Nintendo was "the only company that has basically refused to acknowledge the issue or demonstrate they are making any sort of effort on it."

"And this is despite a good two years of trying to get in contact with them," she said, while lauding companies like Intel and Apple for taking "significant steps" in avoiding raw materials from such volatile regions.

Nintendo was the only company out of 24 give a score of zero by the group, for not doing enough to make sure its product materials weren't supporting armed groups in central Africa.

In a statement sent to CNN Nintendo said it "outsources the manufacture and assembly of all Nintendo products to our production partners and therefore is not directly involved in the sourcing of raw materials that are ultimately used in our products."

"We nonetheless take our social responsibilities as a global company very seriously and expect our production partners to do the same," the statement from Nintendo said.
