Nintendo honoured with Variety Hall of Fame induction
Venerable entertainment magazine Variety will induct Nintendo of America into its Home Entertainment Hall of Fame.
Network business general manager Tony Elison will accept the award at a gala dinner in benefit of charity on December 6.
Other honorees this year include the Harry Potter franchise and Best Buy CEO Brian Dunn.
"These inductees demonstrate all that is exciting about home entertainment as it moves from a flat experience to 3D, from a passive experience to an interactive adventure and from hard goods to a revenue-expanding mix of physical, digital, mobile and other models that provide increased convenience and value to the entertainment consumer," publishing director Linda Buckley-Bruno said.
This is the second year the awards been given under Variety's label; the 31 year old event was previously known as the Video Hall of Fame and organised by Video Business, a now-defunct sister publication of Variety.
Previous incumbents include Netflix's Ted Sarandos and Microsoft 's Blair Westlake.
