The publisher's quirky promotional series comes back, though its new host is still unknown.

The Nintendo Direct series has been one of the company's wisest moves in recent years: It gives Nintendo a chance to deliver a perfectly tailored message to potential customers, wrapped in an incredibly personable package.

Of course, the future of Nintendo Direct has been up in the air since the death of company President Satoru Iwata in July. If you somehow missed his run as host, Iwata eschewed the stereotype of the stuffy Japanese CEO and took the role of a whimsical guide to Nintendo's new products. And fans definitely embraced Iwata's role as presenter; the end of any Nintendo Direct would typically bring about the dissemination of memes and animated .gifs based on whatever silly thing Iwata did last.

Seeing as Iwata isn't easy to replace, Nintendo hasn't revived their Direct series since his death. That will all change Thursday, November 12 at 2:00pm PT, though, as the company streams their first new one in close to six months.

The details at this point are pretty slim—our PR notice basically amounted to a single sentence. But, if you're interested in seeing the new form of Nintendo Direct, visit the Nintendo Direct home page Thursday at 2:00pm PT to see Nintendo's upcoming lineup. And if you're looking for news about Nintendo's new console, you'll have to wait for a future Direct—this one won't feature any info about the NX, or any of their upcoming mobile properties.
