Nintendo: competition from Xbox One and PS4 "puts no pressure on us at all"
Nintendo's president Satoru Iwata may have just said that the company alone is to blame for poor Wii U sales, but Nintendo of America head Reggie Fils-Aime is towing an opposite line. He has stated that the company feels no pressure from Microsoft and Sony's next-gen consoles, as Nintendo is targeting a different area of the market.
If you missed Iwata's apologetic statement, .
Speaking with Kotaku, Fils-Aime said of competition from Microsoft and Sony "It puts no pressure on us at all. Sony and Microsoft are going to do what they're going to do. My bet is that there are going to be more announcements the closer we get to whatever their launch date is.
"From my perspective, I can't focus on that. I have to focus on: How do we satisfy the needs of all of the consumers out there with Nintendo products? How do we make sure they understand our proposition? How do we make sure they're excited about the software that we offer? And from that standpoint we're going to let our competition do what they're going to do."
Does Nintendo have the right idea with its aim of retaining the Nintendo faithful, or should it be casting its net much wider? Let us know what you think below.
