The notorious live-action game Night Trap is being revived

Night Trap was one of the most controversial games of the '90s (and therefore ever), a campy full-motion video game for the Sega CD that tasked players with protecting a girly sleepover from masked bad guys. Now, 22 years later, a bunch of the original developers are kickstarting an HD remaster.

The Kickstarter is asking for $330,000 dollars, which is a lot considering much of the work is to improve the resolution of old, weird, voyeuristic FMVs. Here's the explanation as per the campaign:

"The $US330,000 we are seeking is enough to cover the coding, manufacturing and fulfillment of the rewards we are offering. If we raise additional sums, our intention is to acquire the rights to as many other Digital Pictures’ titles as possible and release them as well."

They also state that they are hoping to make a sequel, because that's something everybody wants. The page goes on to suggest that much of the work has already been done, and that, if successful, the game will be delivered only six months after the campaign has finished. So it seems like any money pledged will be going toward future projects, and not just this remaster.
