Nier: Automata PS4 Pro build boasts higher resolution, motion blur, better lighting and shadows
Nier: Automata will offer fancier visuals for those with a PS4 Pro.
Nier: Automata will support the PS4 Pro, Square Enix and Platinum Games have announced.
We have details and some side-by-side comparison screens courtesy of Gematsu, where you can also find some new footage from a recent Nier: Automata Japanese livestream and information on crossover promotions with other titles.
While the standard PS4 build of Nier: Automata runs at 1600x900, PS4 Pro owners can enjoy 1920x1080 - sorry, no native 4K here.
The PS4 Pro build of Nier: Automata also includes motion blur, enhanced atmospheric effects such as sun rays and dust, and better-defined shadows.
Platinum Games also apparently said PS4 Pro players will enjoy smoother and more refreshing action, but it's not super clear what this actually means - it may be a reference to Nier: Automata's target frame rate, or it might just be general PR enthusiasm.
Nier: Automata releases in March for PS4, with the PC build as yet undated. It's the sequel to a cult-favourite Cavia RPG, which was itself a spin-off of the Drakengard series.
Like Drakengard, the first Nier was weird, beautiful, and gave back what you put in. We have hopes Nier: Automata will deliver in this regard as well as on the action front thanks to Platinum's famous stylish action background.
