Next Minecraft update "soon", wolves and achievements inbound

Minecraft creator Notch's latest blog post has highlighted the contents of the next major update.
Promised "soon", the update adds in the promised wolves, movable spawn points, a staistics tracking system, and achievements.
Mojang will then turn its attention to the neglected mod API, a feature much requested by the community as the game's frequent updates currently break most mods.
