New Suikoden set for release in February

Konami's revival of critically-acclaimed JRPG series Suikoden drops in February. See some new screenshots and artwork through the break.

Andriasang reports The ¥5,980 game will launch on February 9, and has not been confirmed for release via the PlayStation Network, or outside Japan. If we do see a Western digital release, you could be playing this baby on your Vita next year. Drool.

In this new instalment, an enigmatic girl named Zephon sends the protagonist back in time to defeat a best which brings destruction every 100 years. Other characters named so far include Jino, Myura and Ducasse.

Announced at the Tokyo Game Show, Genso Suikoden Tsumugareshi Hyakunen no Toki returns to the classic PSOne era franchise, which is still hailed by fans as one of the best. Vaguely based on a classical Chinese novel, the game has players finding and recruiting the 108 stars of destiny. It ran to five core entires plus numerous spin-offs, all of which shared a single timeline and canon, resulting in brain-bending complexity.
