New Donkey Kong champion crowned

20110111dktitle

The hotly contested Donkey Kong title has returned to New York's Hank Chien, after a snowstorm kept the plastic surgeon inside long enough to tot up a whopping 1,068,000 points in a single session.

New York's intense December weather gave Chien the perfect excuse to reclaim the title in his own home, submitting a recorded session to ruling body Twin Galaxies International.

Previous holders Steve Wiebe and Billy Mitchell are expected to contest the title again, the former as early as this weekend at a Chicago event. All three champions will meet in New Jersey in March for another battle.

The record's history is both twisted and quite incestuous; after three year's standing. Mitchell's 2007 record was broken by Chien in March last year, only to be reclaimed by the legendary champ a few months later. Long-time rival Weibe then snatched the title from both of them, only to have Chien take it back with this latest effort.
