New Biomutant footage shows character creator, combat and movement abilities
Biomutant was one of the surprise reveals THQ Nordic made last year, and the game continues to look strong in new footage.
At the PC Gamer Weekender, developer Experiment 101 was on hand to give attendees a Biomutant demo, and answer a few questions.
The demo starts off with a trailer that shows some of the movement and combat abilities in the game, before we get our first look at the character creator. The interesting thing here is that the character's looks affect their attributes.
So changing the size, age etc will have a bearing on the starting attributes like strength, charisma, intellect, vitality and so on. The reason being that you don't so much create a character, but customise a DNA strand. The creator also features colour options, though those don't appear to change attributes.
The game will give players the ability to re-spec later on, it's not too much of a worry. Biomutant has a pretty deep crafting system, with thousands of weapon combination. The demo showed a few randomised examples, and the developer confirmed that dual wielding, two-handed and single-handed weapons all exist. The same idea applies to melee weapons.
