NCsoft reports fiscal year 2010 results, Lineage reaches greatest annual sales ever

NCsoft has released its financial results for its fiscal year 2010, and it finds the company reporting record breaking consolidated sales operating profit.

Sales for the firm came in at KRW 649.7 billion, which up 2 percent year-over-year with net profit at KRW 173.8 billion and a net income decrease of 6 percent.

Veteran title Lineage reached greatest annual sales ever with sales and operating profit of KRW 181.2 billion.

Each of the firm's MMOs, Lineage, Lineage2 and Aion reached KRW 3 trillion in sales, with sales of Aion seeing continuing growth for its three-year life period. Sales by game title: Lineage, Lineage2, Aion, City of Heroes/Villains, Guild Wars and casual games reached KRW 181.2 billion, KRW 118.2 billion, KRW 261.7 billion, KRW 15.8 billion, KRW 12.5 billion, and KRW 11.6 billion respectively

Sales by region: KRW 416.6 billion in Korea; KRW 79.2 billion in Japan; KRW 48.6 billion in North America; KRW 34.3 billion in Europe; KRW 22.4 billion in Taiwan and KRW 48.7 billion from royalties.

"These results mark another successful year for NCsoft," commented Veronique Lallier, managing director of EU publishing at NCsoft.

"We've not only maintained steady growth but also broken sales records with our veteran MMO title Lineage, which celebrated its 12th anniversary last year. We have accomplished this through the strength of our content and the vigor of our community. NCsoft, like most MMOs, provide a service, rather than just sell a box.

"Our success comes from the quality of that service and our ability to communicate with our players on a daily basis. Traditional games publishing models need to adapt and reflect this. It's not the end of traditional games publishing models, but we're witnessing a monumental change from those of old."
