Namco Bandai comments on perma-save decision
A Namco Bandai representative has blamed the Pac-man & Galaga Dimensions' perma-save system on technical limitations, but could not give details.
"There is no way to erase the save from within the game itself without misusing the hardware, causing corruption," the representative told Shack News.
The spokesperson was unable to comment on the technical considerations that brought about this state of affairs, but suggested most players would get good value out of the bundle cartridge anyway.
"It takes a very long time to get high scores on all the games to fill up the rankings as each game is a stand-alone title," the representative commented, adding that it "would take an average person eight to ten hours depending on skill level to max out."
"With six games, that's 60 plus hours to fill up everything with good high scores."
Namco Bandai provided Shack with a detailed list of which data from each of the included titles cannot be erased. The site also noted that the game's packaging makes no reference to the perma-save, unlike Capcom's warning on Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D.
Thanks, CVG.
