MX vs ATV franchise ships over 10 million units lifetime
THQ has announced the MX vs. ATV franchise has shipped over 10 million units to date since debuting in 2004.
Naturally, THQ is very pleased with the figure.
"This record-setting milestone for the MX vs. ATV franchise is the culmination of consistently delivering genre-defining innovations and the most authentic motocross racing experience for fans worldwide," said Michael Lustenberger, THQ VP of global brand management. "The next iteration of MX vs. ATV will take the series to an exhilarating new level, and we are absolutely thrilled to unveil the first trailer during the 2011 Monster Energy AMA Supercross season opener."
The next installment in the MX vs ATV series, Alive, is scheduled to be revealed during the Monster Energy AMA Supercross season opener in Anaheim, CA on January 8, which will also kick off THQ's seventh year as a sponsor for the supercross series.
THQ's CEO Brian Farrell hinted last year that to help counter the expense of games, the firm plans to try out a new pricing scheme with MX vs. ATV Alive, as it feels the normal $59.99 price point of games has a tendency to "keep people out of gaming"
