Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden trailer explains how the game blends turn-based combat with real-time exploration

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden has produced a neat new trailer that explores the game's unique approach to turn-based and real-time action.

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden's combat is of course inspired by XCOM, but there's more to it than being a simple recreation of a popular turn-based system.

As you explore the game's world, things play out in real-time. You're able to stealth your way past enemy patrols and scavenge the wasteland for scrap and weapon parts. When you decide to enter combat is when things switch to the XCOM-style turn-based system.

The different mutants come with different skills that mix things up. These can be upgraded by finding artifacts and progressing through the game. Today's trailer also shows off the Ark, Road to Eden’s hub world where you'll find a bar, and various vendors that offer supplies and equipment upgrades.
