Move sells 1 million in NA, production upped to meet demand
Move sold over 1 million units in its first month on sale in North America, SCEA's confirmed.
The company's said that demand is outstripping supply, and production levels have now been increased.
"We had to go back and increase production twice, we're absolutely maxed out right now," SCEA's Jack Tretton told Reuters.
SCEA marketing boss Peter Dille confirmed last night that Sony is flying in replenishment shipments as “many retailers” have sold out.
Arcadia Research analyst John Taylor, however, retorted that the unit has not sold out in most locations, but didn’t dispute Dille’s call.
Taylor’s analysis indicated “several hundred thousand” units have been bought so far.
Move launched on September 19 in the US with its camera priced at $39.99 and its motion controller wand at $49.99.
The motion controller's American effort was beaten in Europe, where it moved more than 1.5 million units in its first month.
