Mortal Kombat 11: NetherRealm working on gimped Towers of Time progression
Though Mortal Kombat 11 has only been available for a few hours, there's already a consensus that the Towers of Time mode is hampered by poor balance.
Towers of Time is Mortal Kombat 11's version of Injustice 2's Multiverse; a set of rotating towers that offer unique rewards and often require certain play styles from players.
Towers of Time come in different variants. Some are character-specific, others refresh on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. The problem arises from the various modifiers and debuffs the game throws at the player, which many believe are tuned in such a way to encourage players to buy skip fight tokens.
Setting aside the microtransactions dilemma, the gear necessary to take on these challenges is tied to RNG, with gear drop rates reportedly very low. Players who had early access to the game have been sharing these impressions on Reddit, and Test Your Might forums.
These same frustrations were echoed in many of Mortal Kombat 11 reviews, and some even docked the game points for them despite being impressed by the rest of the package.
In response, NetherRealm community manager Tyler Lansdown noted during the studio's most recent Kombat Kast livestream that the developer is on the case.
They revealed that these changes may be made server-side without requiring a client patch. Though Lansdown wasn't able to give a specific time frame for when players can expect these changes, they did say they're going out "ASAP."
More specifically, the change should address difficulty balance, and the rewards players receive for completing them.
