Moon sequel possible once rights return to dev in 2014

Renegade Kid will be able to pursue a sequel to Moon once it regains the rights to the DS shooter.

Responding to a fan group calling for publisher Mastiff to greenlight a sequel to the cult favourite, Renegade Kid's Jools Whatsham confirmed the rights will return to the indie developer in due time.

"Save your energy. Renegade Kid gains Moon rights back in 2014," he said on Twitter.

"It has always been our plan to create a sequel to Moon. Never could convince the pub to go for it. Come 2014 we're in control.

"I should mention that a sequel to Moon is not currently in development. But, at least we'll now have the ability to do so soon," he added.

Whatsham also confirmed that the return of the rights will allow renegade Kid to produce ports and upgrades to the original game.

Moon released in 2009 and although Renegade Kidd went on to garner more fame with Mutant Mudds it remains a steadfast favourite among DS fans and represents remarkable technical achievement on the lightweight console.
