Monster Hunter World's DLC will be free
Monster Hunter World won't be jumping on the paid DLC bandwagon just yet.
producer Ryozo Tsujimoto told Polygon, adding that players could sign up for console-focused online services. "
While quests themselves will be free, Capcom does seem to be considering some format changes since more consoles tend to be always-online. "On portable, you are not always online, so you have to have a system in place where people will download the quests or data when they are at home then play when they are out," Tsujimoto explained. "Now with the console, we can rely on you being online whenever you’re on." This opens the door for limited-time quests that players must be online to experience.
Even if such changes occur, Capcom does intend to offer the same core Monster Hunter experience it always has. "We have made sure we are putting the volume of gameplay people expect from a Monster Hunter," executive producer Kaname Fujioka told Polygon. "I think we have our priorities right. We don’t want to let any users down who are used to Monster Hunter being a great, meaty experience."
Monster Hunter World will launch for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2018.
