Monster Hunter: World PC will look about as good as it does on PS4/Xbox, won't feature mod support or cross play
The PC version of Monster Hunter: World is looking more and more worrying by the day.
Sometime after confirming the PC release date for Monster Hunter: World and revealing the surprisingly high system requirements, Capcom has now clarified a few other details about the PC port.
Despite the steep requirements for 30fps, game producer Ryozo Tsujimoto confirmed to PC Gamer that Monster Hunter: World will look about as good it does today on PS4 and Xbox One.
"When the game launches, the visuals will have parity with the console versions. But we’re considering releasing a free update after launch."
Tsujimoto did not elaborate further as to what sort of upgrades players can expect from the free update, but it's probably safe to assume it won't be anything massive.
Tsujimoto also revealed that the PC version will be a different version from consoles, meaning the monsters added to PS4/Xbox One post-launch won't be there on day one for PC.
While he did confirm that Capcom wants to keep all three platforms in sync as much as possible, the difference in version numbers may prevent them from being identical in that regard.
As for balance and bug fixes, Tsujimoto had this to say: "[Balance patches] will be a case-by-case situation. If we find bugs that are happening only on PC for example, or issues arising after a title update, then we would put patches out on each platform as soon as possible.
"If there was an issue common to all platforms, however, doing it piecemeal would be less preferable than fixing every version at the same time so that everyone has the same experience."
In the same Q&A with PC Gamer, Tsujimoto confirmed that Monster Hunter: World on PC will not support cross-platform play, and wouldn't talk about mod support.
Monster Hunter: World launches August 9 on PC.
