Monster Hunter World: How to unlock more farming and cultivating slots at the Botanical Research Center
After months of waiting Monster Hunter World has hit PC. But for new players, regardless of platform, one the most important things in is to keep a constant supply of crucial crafting and consumable materials flowing into Astera. To help keep the coffers full, here’s how to unlock more farming and cultivating slots at the Botanical Research Center.
Items and materials not only provide you with health, stamina and other buffs while you’re out on a hunt, but also form the foundation of Monster Hunter World’s armor system. The Botanical Research Center will let you find new rare items as well as duplicate ones you already have, so it’s vital to keep it stocked and check back regularly.
How to unlock more farming slots at the Botanical Research Center:
To open up the second and third slots at the center, you have to complete two quests.
The first one is a four star optional quest called “Persistent Pests” which is available if you have a Hunter Rank of eight or higher. This quest has you kill 14 Horetaurs in the Rotten Vale. Hornetaurs usually go down in one or two hits, and you can find some right next to the default camp in that area.
Once you’ve completed Persistent Pests, you’ll get a short cutscene when you return to Astera, and the second slot will open.
The second quest opens up later in the game when you’re granted access to seven star optional quests. This time the quest is called “Talons of Ire and Ice”, and is rather a lot tougher than the last one. Here, you have to hunt a high-rank Legiana and Odogaron in the same quest.
Completing this hunt will earn you the last farming slot in the Botanical Research Center.
It’s also one of the only places you can get important crafting materials like Great Hornfly, which is used in the King Beetle and Butterfly armor sets.
