Capcom financials: Monster Hunter 4 boosts firm's full year profits
Sales and profits were up for Capcom's financial year ended March 31, helped by the overwhelming success of Monster Hunter 4.
The Resident Evil and Street Fighter publisher recorded sales of 102.2bn yen ($1bn) for the full year, with profits of 3.4 bn yen ($33.8m) - an increase of 15 percent on the previous year.
The company singled out the "explosive popularity" of Monster Hunter 4 and the continued strong sales of Dead Rising 3, as well as Resident Evil Revelations - all of which have passed the million sales mark.
Digital delivery of games has increased for Capcom, but game sales in the mobile market have slumped due to a lack of content and increased competition, said the firm.
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen showed "firm sales" while Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Dual Destiny achieved sales targets. The success of Ducktales: Remastered surprised Capcom, but Lost PLanet 3 continued to stink up the place with lower than expected sales.
Browser games Onimusha Soul is performing well in Taiwan though, with the company stating: "This thereby marked the beginnings of gaining a foothold in the market for the local corporation, which was established two years ago."
