Mojang tops Develop Industry Excellence Awards
Independent companies cleaned up the Develop Industry Excellence Awards 2011, with Minecraft developer Mojang coming out the clear winner with three awards.
Mojang won acclaim in the best new downloadable IP, best new studio, and best micro studio stakes.
Rovio took second place with just two awards, but as well as best handheld studio, the Angry Birds developer took out the coveted Grand Prix.
As reported earlier, Ninja Theory scored best new IP for Enslaved, with Playdead scoring a win with Limbo in the visual arts category.
The giants had their moments in the sun of course, with Valve's Steam service scoring it Publishing Legend, and Microsoft netting praise for Kinect in the technological innovation field. Epic's Unreal Engine 3 cemented its reputation with another win.
