MLB 2K13 $250,000 Perfect Game Challenge winner is Justin Chavarria
A winner has been announced in the MLB 2K13 Perfect Game Challenge, and that person is Justin Chavarria of Eugene, Oregon.
Chavarria was one of four finalists who competed in a single-elimination tournament at the T-Mobile All-Star FanFest in New York City for a $250,000 grand prize.
“This has been a life-changing experience over the last four months,” said Chavarria, who defeated Brad Holland of Garland, Texas, using the Texas Rangers over the Oakland A’s.
“I had a great time competing against the other three finalists during the tournament, and this is a day I’ll never forget.”
This year's MLB 2K13 Perfect Game Challenge contained 30 $25,000 MLB Team Leaderboard prize pools, one per MLB team, for a total of $750,000.
More than 785,000 perfect game attempts were logged, and more than 2,500 perfect games were verified. Additionally, individual turnout was well above last year with 23% in unique perfect games thrown (1,191) and 84% in verified perfect games year-over-year compared with MLB 2K12.
The four finalists were determined by a dynamic leaderboard ranking.
MLB 2K13 and the NBA 2K13/MLB 2K13 Combo Pack are now available at retail.
