Miyamoto: Kojima and Inafune considering "main team" 3DS dev

Japan's biggest names appear to be taking 3DS very seriously.

Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto has given a clear indication that 3DS will finally bring Nintendo's handheld offering to the core, saying the best-known Japanese development names have been attracted to the platform for serious projects.

"Mr Kojima from Konami and Mr Inafune from Capcom... are themselves very excited about developing for the system and are talking about leading development with their main teams," the exec told IGN.

Both Metal Gear and Resident Evil were confirmed for 3DS at the machine's E3 reveal, although the former is a remake of Snake Eater. The latter is a new, original project.

3DS's obvious power upgrade over previous Nintendo hardware may be a draw for the major Japanese names, but Miyamoto warned that what you're seeing could be a trick of the light.

"I guess from a graphical standpoint it is true that the shaders that we've implemented into the Nintendo 3DS hardware, from a certain perspective, it can appear as if the graphics are stronger, but they're really a little bit more in balance I think," he said.

3DS will launch worldwide before April 2011.
