Minecraft Wii U Edition confirmed, coming December 17 [Update]
Nintendo has officially confirmed details of Minecraft Wii U Edition, along with a release date.
Update: Mojang confirmed what many suspected, that the Wii U's GamePad would not be used for inventory management. This makes it so the GamePad's only use will be to play the game off the TV.
Original story: The final chapter in the story of Minecraft Wii U Edition is upon us, with official confirmation from Nintendo the game is indeed coming to Wii U.
After having appeared on a rating board's website, and getting promptly removed after, the Wii U Edition now has an official release date of December 17.
This version of the game is going to be a bit different from the ones available on other platforms, in that it takes advantage of the console's GamePad and allows you to take the game with you away from the TV.
The Wii U Edition comes with some add-ons like the Battle & Beasts Skin Pack, Natural Texture Pack, City Texture Pack, Festive Mash-up Pack, and others. 16 more will be available for purchase through the eShop.
In addition, Nintendo announced it's working with developer Mojang to create Nintendo-themed content, details of which will be available later. The Wii U Edition is priced $30.
