Minecraft Christmas update spotted in new snapshot

The PC version of Minecraft looks set to update before Christmas Day with a cute little surprise; don't hit the break if you like all your presents at once.

As spotted by Redditors, the latest development snapshot includes a special skin for chests, turning them into beribboned, red- and green-wrapped presents.

Assuming the update rolls out ahead of Christmas as expected, the skins will apparently automatically unlock and apply when your system clock hits December 25. Of course, you can fiddle with your time and date settings to grab it manually ahead of time.

It's not clear if the Xbox 360 version is likely to get a similar update, but a festive skin pack is inbound.
